When I first saw Leave’s video for “Summertime,” I thought it was a spoof of a glam rock show. The lyrics of “Summertime” were so cleverly written that I wondered why I hadn’t noticed them earlier. I then thought of Brian May, who hosts the Utopia TV show and wears careworn white clogs on his porch.

The girl was never supposed to fall in love with a boy, but he was trying to charm her. He’s thinking about hugging her and tries to convince himself that his attraction is fleeting and won’t last. His sworn brother’s rejection is his worst fear, and his mind whirlwind of emotions is just one more reason to get to know him more.

In his spare time, Anderson writes poetry and plays guitar. He also plays the piano. He lives on a farm in southwest England. He and his wife Shona are married for 37 years. They have two children. Anderson has been awarded two doctorates in literature and received the Ivor Award for International Achievement in Music.
