What Movies Are Out
Here’s what’s out in theaters or streaming, broadcast, rental, and purchase this week. The new movies include a Tom Cruise sequel, a remake of a 1990 comedy, and more.
If you’re a fan of the old-school CGI rabbits from “Peter Rabbit,” you can get your fix in this sequel, which includes James Corden as Peter and Margot Robbie as Flopsy.
Top Gun: Maverick
Maverick is back to Top Gun, tasked with training a new group of young aviators. He must confront his past and grief over Goose’s accidental death.
But he finds it hard to balance his career with his love life, especially when his instructor, Charlie (Jennifer Connelly), starts dating him. Ultimately, Maverick must find a way to overcome his demons and graduate from Top Gun.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie
Fans of the cult Fox show will be happy to see Bob and Linda Belcher’s fast-food shop back on the big screen. Taking advantage of the extra time and budget, the animation team stepped up their production numbers to make a fun, light-hearted movie.
But the film’s story quickly gets bogged down in a mystery that could have been left off the television show. The kids, especially nine-year-old Louise (Kristen Schaal), are forced to solve a murder to save the restaurant.
“Beast”
What do you think of when you hear the word “Beast?” It can mean anything from a furry humanoid character to a non-humanoid creature. Beasts typically have claws, fangs, heavy hair or actual fur, horns, scales, and structurally different eyes. They also tend to have superpowers reminiscent of animal traits, like Super Senses or Wall Jumping.
“892”
A 3-digit number, “892,” can significantly impact your day if you know what to look for. It has some remarkable properties, including a clever ad campaign that could boost your bank account and get you in the door at the local bar. The number has also piqued the interest of unsuspecting customers and employees alike.
“The Bride”
Best friends since childhood, Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) have been planning their weddings at New York’s ultimate bridal destination: the Plaza Hotel.
When a clerical error results in a clash of wedding dates, the two women and their lifelong friendship are put to the ultimate test. It’s a no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners struggle.

“Me Time”
Me time – it’s a real thing, and you can’t say too much about your health and happiness without it. Taking the time to step back and recharge your batteries will make you feel fresher than a well-trained monkey. The best part is it doesn’t have to be an expensive treat. The key is to schedule it into your life in a manner that will be most rewarding.
“Samaritan”
The Samaritans have a different version of Judaism than most Jews. They speak Hebrew or Arabic, live in Israel and Palestine, and are descendants of ancient Judeans.
One of the significant differences between Jews and Samaritans stems from their beliefs about where to worship. The Bible refers to this issue in the book of Luke, which mentions that Jesus and his party receive an unwelcome reception as they enter a Samaritan village.
“The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It”
Like all Conjuring films, this sequel retells a case of demonic possession that was once the subject of a sensational real-life trial. It focuses on a young man who claimed he was possessed, then stabbed his landlord 22 times.
Self-professed demonologists and paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren are called to assist with the case. Their investigation stretches far beyond the Warrens’ home into dark woods, seedy basements, and backdoor passages.
“In the Heights”
In the Heights takes you to Washington Heights in New York City and illuminates a community of characters whose dreams light up the neighborhood. It’s a celebration of music, dancing, and homecoming that’s equal parts Broadway and Manhattan.
Using the kinetic motion of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s music and the storytelling eye of Jon M. Chu of Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights is an experience that’s worth watching.
“Luca”
Luca is a boy’s name that has Latin and Italian roots. It means “bringer of light,” and it’s a popular choice for both boys and girls.
This name has been a rising star in the United States since its 2000 debut on the US list of popular names for boys. It’s also trendy in European and Latin American countries as well.
